New Series Alert!
(Can you tell I like series?)
In this new blog series I will feature shows that are “Elegant Parent Approved”…TV programs that my husband and I are (pretty much) comfortable with our girls watching and maybe you can check them out if you’re looking for a few new shows.
So the first show I’ll feature is one of our absolute favorites: Peppa Pig
for more info and to watch
It follows the everyday mundane adventures of Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig, Baby Brother George, and the star of the show: Peppa Pig. But what’s great about this show is that they feature plain-old, ho-hum, everyday things: Birthdays, going to playgroup, grocery trips, vacations, but they are approached with the same excitement and wonder-filled joy that only really small, little kids have.
All the Characters have amazing manners: the show is filled with “yes, please,” and “may I…”
The show is inter-generational: babies, kids, older kids, parents, grandparents…it’s nice.
They live in a very diverse world: with many different types of animals, who are mainly English but there is a family of French donkeys, a pony named Pedro, and a Mancunian (?) or Welsh (?) hampster.
Everyone has a role: doctor, nurse, garbage man, office worker, mom, child; and everyone is important
They have a lovely, warm community of neighbors and friends.
There are witty little adult jokes within the show; not “adult” as in x-rated, but just funny little bits.
There are no flashing lights.
The animation is simple, but intricate: they breathe, tails wag, eyes blink, etc.
The music is very sweet.
The voices are endearing.
Cons: Peppa can be a little bossy to George; she can also be a teensy bit mean, but it is very minimal…I can’t even think of an example. I think she comments to George that he’s a “baby” or plays “monkey in the middle” with George.
Overall, it’s an extremely endearing show. My Little One was 2 years old when her Great-Grandparents introduced her to “Peppa Pig” and she was an instant fan.
I just found out that Peppa even has an interactive website where you can play games, and download coloring sheets and join the “Muddy Puddles Birthday Club;” so cute!!!! It seems a bit image/video heavy so it loads a bit slowly or maybe it’s just that I have a million-and-one things open on my laptop at one time….
Anyhoo, here’s a preview of their cute interactive website:
