Do you watch sports?
Except if it’s LeBron James during the playoffs…or is it the end-offs?…or is it the endgame?
Honestly, I’m totally not into sports, I just like it because it means couch cuddle time with the Hubbs and a time to eat chips with dip and hoagies! Yum!
But somehow came across a former sports star who has become a super star in a small town in North Carolina.
Meet Jason Brown
Actually, a few years ago he looked more like this…still sweet, but maybe not as happy.
He wasn’t happy. Even though he played Center in the NFL and had a contract for $37.5 million dollars.
So he walked away from it all.
To be a farmer.
For the poor.

Jason Brown is our Knight of the Week because he heard that little nudging inside of himself; he heard that still, small voice telling him to do something different and good; and he listened.
After leaving the NFL, Jason and his lovely family founded the “First Fruits Farm” where they donate the first harvest of his 1,000 acre farm, to those in need.
In the Bible (the Torah…and I think the Quran too) people are called to give the first fruits of their labor to God (to those in need now). That’s where the tithe (giving the first 10% of your income to God (the church or those in need) comes from.
Giving your “first fruits” basically denotes a faith in and reliance upon God. That you aren’t panicked and worried, trying to selfishly squirrel everything way for yourself, but you first give to God (those in need), trusting that God will also provide for you.
Wow. What a refreshing yet old school yet refreshing thing to do.
Last year, Jason’s “First Fruits Farm” was able to donate 10,000 pounds of cucumbers and 100,000 pounds of sweet potatoes to local hunger relief efforts.
Not only that, Jason has a seed program gives away free seeds so people can found First Fruits gardens in their own neighborhoods.
Jason and his family are doing great things. Check out this video to learn more:

Jason Brown may have done something a bit odd in the eyes of the world, but those who are great are usually a bit odd.
Noah built a HUGE BOAT…in a desert; that eventually saved people and lots of animals.
Teenage David confronted a expert military fighter who stood at 6 foot 9 inches tall; and he saved his entire nation.
A multi-millionare named Jason left his life of riches behind to become a farmer, and he …helped eliminate hunger in North Carolina?
Who knows what else lies ahead of this good Knight, but we have faith that it will be good.
Congratulations Jason on being our Knight of the week!
Huzzah!!! Huzzah!!! Huzzah!!!
