I know, I know, it sounds totally odd right?
Well…I did; I honored my husband by buying him a magic kit.
Now I’m totally not advising you to go out and waste money on random novelties that your husband may or may not like.
But here’s something I’ve learned my my decade long relationship: Husbands like showing off; whether it’s opening a really stubborn jar, killing a spider, taking out the trash, finding things for you, navigating your trip with handy maps, juggling, running fast circles around you to show you his athleticism, biking, what-have-you, I really think husbands like coming to the rescue for their wives.
Or at the very least, husbands like showing off and getting a bit of cheer-praise from their cute wives.
And hopefully you enjoy your husband showing off for you and you encourage him
to do so. It’s cute that husbands want to be strong and useful for us.
“Yes, but “honor” is a pretty strong word” You say.
“How did you ‘honor’ your husband with a magic kit?
Well….the act of buying the magic kit was really a token, showing my husband that I pay attention to him, that I want to and I’m willing to sacrifice in order to invest in his happiness (big or small), and that I believe in him. How does a magic kit say all that?
Well, when I gave him the kit, I said: “I
remember you mentioned a year or so ago that you did magic when you were little (*I really listen to
your stories) and I thought you might like it (*I was thinking of you
and wanting to invest in your happiness) and it would be totally cool for you to
do magic tricks for us (*of course I think you’re skilled enough to
master this magic kit, you’re an awesome magic master of sexiness).
So I honored him by showing that I do listen to him and then by sacrificing for him, investing in him, and believing in him…all with a $10 magic kit.
So all you married gals out there…if you wanted to invest in your husband’s happiness and your own what gift would you buy your guy?
Has he mentioned anything to you? “I really liked doing xyz when I was younger”
Or “Man, I really loved abc” sometimes it’s not even buying something but doing an activity he loves.
